Technical Co-Founder — Climate Tech (AI)
Early-stage climate venture (founder-led)
Remote — Africa · Full-time
A founder in the African climate space is looking for a technical co-founder — not an employee, and not a contractor. This is a partnership: someone to build the product alongside them from the beginning and share the ownership and the risk that goes with that. WHAT THEY ARE BUILDING The venture is early. The founder is deliberately open on sub-sector rather than fixed: energy, agriculture, e-mobility and adjacent areas are all in scope. If your work sits anywhere in the climate space, you are in scope too. What is fixed is the focus on Africa and the intention to build with AI at the centre of the product rather than bolted onto it. WHO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR In the founder's own words: character and interest over skill — but the skill does need to exist. They are looking for someone with their head on their shoulders, genuinely interested in the climate sector in Africa, and comfortable building with AI. That ordering is worth taking seriously. A strong engineer who is indifferent to the problem is not what this is. Equally, enthusiasm without the ability to ship will not carry an early-stage product. Both have to be there, with the interest leading. WHAT THIS IS NOT There is no salary attached to this. A co-founder role is compensated in equity and in what you build together, and the specifics are something you and the founder work out directly. If you need a salaried position, this is not that — and Uphiva has other roles that are. HOW TO APPLY Apply through Uphiva. Tell us what you have built, which part of the climate problem you care about and why, and what you have done with AI. A short, specific note will travel further than a long CV. Applications are reviewed and passed to the founder for a direct conversation.
